Commissioning Single Zone Kit
Once you have laid underfloor heating, filled & pressure tested, connected the flow and return pipework to the manifold.
-
Open flow to the manifold by undoing red/blue cap & connect thermostatic head connect sensor to dry pocket located under the pump.
-
Set water temperature to Low (23°c) on the thermostatic head.
-
Slowly raise the temperature over a few days.
-
Open return to the manifold by using 6mm alan key located on top of nickel plated elbow (bottom left hand side of manifold)
-
Bleed any air out of the manifold that may have entered when you opened flow and return. Bleed air using Radiator key or small slotted screwdriver
-
Turn on the programmable room stat (make sure the stat is calling for heat).
-
Check the Zone valve for the ufh has opened the lever on the side of the valve should now be loose.
-
Check the pump is running & pump valves are open the slot on the pump valve should be vertical.
-
Check boiler has fired up.
-
Open the 2 heads on top of manifold. Check the alan key valves located under red caps on the bottom manifold body. Use slotted screw driver to wined the locking ring flush to the top, then use 5mm alan key to open valve (anti clockwise).
-
Hot water should now be running through the manifold and pulling cold water out of the top manifold body. Cooler water should now run down through the pump and enter the pipework through the bottom body.
-
Once the temperature gauge gets to the temp set by the head the head will start to shut and stop taking water from the boiler.
-
Check any other zones i.e radiators/hot water these still working correctly.
-
Check bypass is working correctly.
-
Turn off stat and check the zone valve, pump & boiler have turned off. Boiler may still run if other zones are calling for heat or boiler has a pump over run.
Note
The initial warm up period will take a long time as the floor is cold and will sap all the heat. This will result in the water entering the floor (bottom body) will be warm as stated by temp gauge & the water coming up to the top body will be cold.
The floor temperature should be gradually increased over a number of days as not to damage the concrete/screed floor.
Fault Finding
Underfloor Heating not getting hot
If the zone valve is open and pump and boiler has fired up check the Return valve on the manifold. This is located on the bottom left hand side, underneath the nickel plated dust cap open this by using a 6mm alan key.
Boiler & Heating not turning on
Check stat is calling for heat (flame symbol)
Check batteries in stat (if applicable)
Floor not getting warm
Check return is open see UFH not getting hot.
Check plastic caps on the top body are open turn anticlockwise.
Check under red cap on the bottom body use 5mm alan key (anticlockwise) and slotted screwdriver.
Pipe work to the manifold not hot
Check zone vale is open (lever should be loose)
Check stat is calling for heat

Commissioning Multi Zone Kit
Once you have laid underfloor heating, filled & pressure tested, connected the flow and return pipework to the manifold.
-
Open flow & Return connections to the manifold by undoing red/blue cap & connect thermostatic head connect sensor to dry pocket located under the pump. Open ball valves by turning red levers inline.
-
Set water temperature to Low (23°c) on the thermostatic head.
-
Slowly raise the temperature over a few days.
-
Bleed any air out of the manifold that may have entered when you opened flow and return. Bleed air using Auto air vents above temp & pressure gauge.
-
Turn on any overall time control (programmable room stat or time clock)
-
Turn on one stat at a time and check that the boiler turns on.
-
Check that the corresponding actuator opens (white nipple on top of actuator will lift) this may take a few minutes.
-
Make sure the red tab on the front of Actuator is pushed in Flush.
-
Check the pump is running & pump valves are open the slot on the pump valve should be vertical.
-
Check the alan key valves located under red caps on the bottom manifold body. Use slotted screw driver to wined the locking ring flush to the top, then use 5mm alan key to open valve (anti clockwise).
-
Hot water should now be running through the manifold and pulling cold water out of the floor of the open loops into the top manifold body. Cooler water should now run down through the pump and enter the open loops through the bottom body.
-
Once the temperature gauge gets to the temp set by the head the head will start to shut and stop taking water from the boiler.
-
Check any other zones i.e radiators/hot water these still working correctly.
-
Check bypass is working correctly.
-
Turn off stat and check the Actuators, pump & boiler have turned off. Boiler may still run if other zones are calling for heat or boiler has a pump over run.
-
Check all stats individually that they open the right loops.

Fault Finding
Underfloor Heating not getting hot
If the actuator valves are open and pump and boiler has fired up check the Flow & Return Ball valves on the manifold. These are located on the top & bottom left hand side, turn red levers so they are vertical.
Boiler & Heating not turning on
Check any overall time control is calling for heat.
Check stats are calling for heat
Programmable stats shows flame symbol
Dial stats turn up to maximum
Check batteries in stat ( if applicable)
Floor not getting warm
Check flow & return is open see UFH not getting hot.
Check actuators are open (white nipple lifted & red tap pushed in)
Check under red cap on the bottom body use 5mm alan key (anticlockwise) and slotted screwdriver.
1 Room to cold 1 room to hot
Check that the stats are opening the right actuators.
