An extremely important point about underfloor heating is the choice of the exact type of heating system layout and the associated heating packs that will be required in order to ensure that all of the important factors of design are considered.
Here at UK Underfloor Heating we stock many specialised parts including heating packs, and a wide variety of different thermostats including network thermostats, wireless thermostats and even touch screen thermostats to make control of your underfloor heating system easy and flexible. We can assist you to design the wet underfloor heating system in the most professional and cost effective manner.
You will benefit from the best performance of any underfloor heating system using a solid floor, with the pipes buried in a screed on top of floor insulation. Although screed floors do tend to take slightly longer to heat up (from cold start), they retain the heat better and longer too. We offer a range of solid floor heating pack from 10 – 60 sqm, all of our components are manufactured to an extremely high quality, tested and supplied at very competitive prices.
Depending on the type of floor you have in your home, this will dictate the type of underfloor heating design and heating packs that will be deployed as part of the installation. We have 2 main types of methods to suit joisted floors, the first being screed between joist.
This method uses a small amount of screed in between joist encasing the pipes that are fixed to insulation the key benefit of this method is the stored heat, not only does the pipes produce heat it transfers to the screed creating a thermal mass. Providing your joist can take the additional loading this is the method to use.
The second method would be the aluminium plates which are fixed to the joist and are pre grooved at 200mm centres. The pipework runs into these grooves finishing flush to the top of the joist. This method would be used if you cannot take the additional loading of a small amount of screed. The pipes transfer the heat to the plates which create a radiant panel omitting the heat into the room. The key benefits of using the plates are a quick and clean installation.
Grooved board packs are primarily used when you simply cannot lift the floors or want to keep the disruption to a minimum. They are pre routed at 200 or 150mm centres to take our underfloor pipes. They also have a metalized coating which works like an aluminium plate which again will omit the heat into the room. This method will raise the floor by 25mm plus your floor finish. The boards offer a quick and easy installation process which is ideal for retro installations.
