Multi Port Manifold

What is a multi zone underfloor heating system used for?

A multi zone system is a system that is controlled by more than one room thermostat this means you can have all the different rooms set to turn on and off at different times and temperatures.

How do they work?

Multi zoned systems work by controlling the warm water into the loops so instead of a zone valve you would have a wiring centre and actuators this will provide independent control for each of your underfloor heating zones. The radiator and hot water systems are controlled as normal using zone valves.

Room thermostat

Each zone is controlled by a programmable room thermostat allowing each room to have time and temperature control, when any one of these thermostats call for heat (turn on) they open an electronically operated valve (actuator) that is fitted to the bottom body of the manifold, this would then turn your pump on and fire up your boiler.

Each loop on the manifold is capable of having its own control typically one loop per room(depending on the size of the room).
